Providing the necessary mathematical skills to move forward on to the more demanding NDE courses. Students taking this one-day course will fulfill the NDE math requirements in accordance with NRCan CGSB-48.9712.

This course is intended to introduce NDE technicians to the engineering materials, material processes, codes and standards typically used in the NDE industry. Mechanical testing, heat treatment, welding metallurgy, casting and forging principals will be discussed. Students will be introduced to codes and standards, and their particular application to the NDE industry. This course includes the NRCan Materials and Processes examination.

Course Overview
This course is intended to meet the training requirements for Levels I and II NRCan CGSB-48.9712 for certification of NDE personnel - MT method. Topics covered will include: NDE methods of magnetization, test variables, calibration procedures, equipment operation following prescribed techniques. Test samples will include weldments, castings, and machine parts. This course allows students to locate defects in ferro-magnetic materials. Students work with various equipment and accessories and follow inspection procedures and standards outlined by industry and regulatory groups. Topics covered will include: NDE methods of magnetization, test variables, calibration procedures, equipment operation following prescribed techniques. Test samples will include weldments, castings, and machine parts.

Course Overview
This course is intended to meet the training requirements for Level II CGSB Standard 48.9712, certification of NDE personnel - PT method. Topics covered will include: test principles, applications and limitations, test variables, calibration, evaluation of test sensitivity and interpretation of results. Students should be aware that, in addition to classroom training NRCAN requires: suitable work experience, code of ethics form and proof of vision to qualify for NDE certification. Liquid Penetrant method that is capable of detecting and locating discontinuities that are surface breaking. Topics covered are Basic Principles of Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Processing, Advantages and Disadvantages of various processes, System Controls, Test Equipment and Accessories and Inspection Procedures and Standards.
Prior to taking any NDT training courses all students must complete the 40-hour PT course or provide evidence acceptable to GISS that he/she has successfully passed an M & P examination administered by an NDT Accepted Training Organization (NATO).

Course Overview
Ultrasonic testing methods will be used to inspect typical samples such as welds, castings, forgings and rolled products. Topics covered will include: production of ultrasound, variables affecting test sensitivity, calibration procedures, and testing techniques. This course is intended to meet the training requirements for CGSB Level I. The course will provide a basic knowledge of the principles of ultrasonic testing and will allow the technician to perform established ultrasonic procedures under the supervision of Level 2 or Level 3 personnel.

This course, when combined with GISS-UT1-A, is intended to meet the training requirements for Level II. The course will provide an advanced knowledge of the principles of ultrasonic testing, as well as a basic knowledge of technique development and signal interpretation. Ultrasonic testing methods will be used to inspect typical samples such as welds, castings, forging, and rolled products using compressional and shear wave techniques. Codes and Specification, interpretation, evaluation of results and report writing will also be covered.

Register for Training CourseGISS Advanced Ultrasonic Courses
Course Overview
This course is designed to prepare students for SNT-TC-1a or ANSI/ ASNT CP-189 certification towards Phased Array Ultrasonic (PAUT) Level 2. The student will develop the competence to perform NDE to PAUT procedures. The student will learn the following; selection of the correct PAUT technique for the test method to be used, identify limitations of application of the testing method, interpret NDE codes, standards, specifications, procedures into NDE instructions geared for the actual working conditions. Set up calibration, verification of equipment, correct calibration block and or mock up specimens and troubleshooting of equipment.
Students will be provided test specimens and will be require to Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or procedures, prepare PAUT written instruction and develop a professional and accurate final report. Students will be able to use this training to fulfill the training requirements of their employers written practice for certification to SNT level II PAUT. It should be noted that the student will be required to log training hours in the method prior to certification.
The course will provide a basic knowledge of the principles of ultrasonic testing and will allow the technician to perform established ultrasonic procedures under the supervision of Level 2 or Level 3 personnel.

- Safety Shoes: Mandatory for all laboratory work. All students must wear safety shoes or boots during the practical lab sessions of our courses. If safety shoes are not worn, admission to the lab may be prohibited and you may not be allowed to participate in the practical portion of the course and it may lead to unsuccessful completion of the course.
- Long Pants are required for all lab work.
- Laptop Computer
- Scientific Calculator: Participants are requested to have a calculator capable of scientific notation.
- Stationary: Bring stationary for taking notes, for example: paper, pens, pencils and erasers.
Attendance:
Students must attend 100% of the course to meet CGSB certification requirements. Attendance shall be reported in the course documentation.

All courses are delivered in English.
