Aboriginally Partnered Training

Enabling you to acquire state-of-the-art technical skills and experience.

Our Vision

To enable the first nations peoples (male and/or female) to acquire "state-of-the-art" technical skills and experience, such that eventually they will be able to perform 100% of the required activities to enable them to operate a successful business independently of our guidance. And have the confidence that the Oil & Gas industry, mining industry, and others, will recognize the training and experience received.

We are proposing the Federal Government immediately fund the building of a Technical Training Centre, that is designed such that upon completion of the training apprenticeship, the building can be utilized as an indigenous peoples NDT business. We will partner with all the Nations that want to be a part of this and are interested in participating in this venture. This is a long term project, because it is necessary to gradually transfer control from us, to all of you. In the end it will have 100% First Nations ownership. Even after we have completed the training and guidance, we will still make ourselves available to provide guidance and help when necessary. We are of the opinion that this will be a very powerful business and extremely successful.

Over the years I have heard very similar stories from many indigenous people from all across North America. In the end the outcome always ends badly for the people who need help the most. The why can be summed up in the following statements:

  • The traditional corporations provide the minimum training required to pass the course, take your money, then you never see them again;
  • The people are trained to perform menial tasks only;
  • Even if the students are successful in the training, there is no program set in place for them to take advantage of their new knowledge and gain the experience necessary to be successful.
  • Lastly, sometimes, the indigenous people need extra help to prepare for working and living outside of the environment they have been accustomed to. Most corporations do not recognize that this could be an impediment.

We want to treat the indigenous peoples legally and ethically as a full partner in this training/business venture.

We can help you, but first you must help us. The culture of the indigenous people is different from the average every-day Canadian or American. Therefore we must be cognizant of these special needs and have the flexibility to modify our program when the need arises.

To enable both of us to be winners and be successful, we must rely on your people teaching us as we go along what is culturally important, and how we can adopt those necessary ideals and adjust our program to enable the students to have sufficient time to perform these necessary individual and communal activities.

The Program

This is not a short-term training program, but is one that your people can be proud to participate in.

Please note, most of the training courses listed below are mandatory, with a specific minimum amount of time necessary to meet government guidelines. In addition, each part of this training program has a specified minimum amount of time for on-the-job training (co-op placement) to be eligible the attempt the government issued written and practical exams. The Canadian NDT Certification is recognized worldwide.

Pre-NDT Training

  • Working and if necessary living, in a non-traditional environment; This teaches the student everything from reporting to work on time, workplace cultures, opening a bank account, applying for a debit and credit card, driving work vehicles, paying bills, getting the services you need, complying with work-place requirements such as a Criminal background checks, a drivers abstract, random drug and alcohol testing, etc.
  • Technical Math for Non-destructive Testing; This course prepares the student for the mathematics required in the NDT training program.
  • Materials and Processes for NDT; this courses prepares the student with the knowledge of how various materials are manufactured, the chemical and physical structure of each, how they are joined together, etc. (Castings, forging, welding, etc.).
  • Workplace Materials Information System; this program helps the student identify the hazards associated with many different types of materials.
  • Safety Training such as, Working from Heights, Confined Spaces, Safety laws and Regulations, etc.

How Long?

From starting with no knowledge of NDT, the process to gaining journeyman status can be as short as five years or as long as ten years.

Successful Venture

The success of this program will be achieved when there are sufficient indigenous technicians trained with the proper knowledge, experience and skills, to convert a portion of the Training Facility into a viable business recognized by industry, and successfully compete with existing businesses.

Non-destructive Testing (NDT) Training

NDT is divided into three Levels of Certification as follows:

Level-1: (Trainee) at this stage the student is introduced to NDT and is taught the basic method knowledge and upon successfully completing the government issued examinations, becomes certified as a Level-1 Technician (trainee);

Level-2: (Journeyman) at this stage the student acquires sufficient knowledge and skills to work independently.

Level-3: (Specialist) this is the apex of NDT, and provides the student with the necessary knowledge to oversee the operation of a complex facility, etc.

Level-1: The following are the general NDT Test Methods typically included in this category:
  • Penetrant Testing
  • Magnetic Testing
  • Ultrasonic Testing
  • Radiographic Testing
  • Eddy Current Testing
Level-2: The following are the general NDT Test Methods typically included in this category:
  • Penetrant Testing
  • Magnetic Testing
  • Ultrasonic Testing
  • Radiographic Testing
  • Eddy Current Testing
Level-3: The following are the general NDT Test Methods typically included in this category:
  • Penetrant Testing
  • Magnetic Testing
  • Ultrasonic Testing
  • Radiographic Testing
  • Eddy Current Testing
Advanced NDT Methods:
  • Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
  • ime of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)
  • Guided Wave Ultrasonic Testing (GWT)
  • Etc.
